Scout, continues the journey was written and illustrated by Dave "Mike" Watters CW4, US Army Retired, (3March 1967 - 3 April 2008), a Vietnam era Army Aviator with a flying career lasting over forty years. During that length of time he achieved a total of over 8500 safe flight hours (all helicopter). His first book introduced "Scout" and recanted a story line of two true events. The second book was inspired by the need to give thanks to all the professional aviation mechanics that took care of the helicopters he flew.
Pilots often achieve things that bring spotlights and medals. However, it is always the individual that works long hours after the flights are done that ensure the aircraft is ready for the next mission. That individual is the Aviation Mechanic.
Mike's experience with this professional was through he Military Army Aviation Mechanic and the Civilian A&P Mechanic. The bond between these individuals is often fleeting but is truly timeless in the "Journey" for achieving a Safe Flight.
